Frankenlust TWP., MI – Delta College is very pleased to announce the donation of a new digital level control system from Emerson Process Management. The digital level control system was installed by students in the program, Adam Legner and Klay Gillham, on one of the batch distillation units in the Chemical Processing Technology lab.

Delta has signed reverse transfer agreements with five universities: Central Michigan University, Ferris State University, Grand Valley State University, Saginaw Valley State University and the University of Michigan-Flint.

General Motors recently donated three vehicles, a total of four in 2013, to the Delta College General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP). These late model vehicles offer students the opportunity to observe firsthand the technology used in today's automobiles.

Delta College and the Delta College Foundation awarded $1,260,570 million dollars in scholarships for the 2013–2014 academic year. The dollars come from private donors and other community sources. These scholarship dollars were distributed to 965 students, said Mary Harding, Coordinator of Scholarships and Special Events.

Delta College has received a merit award from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting for achieving a 100% pass rate of the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) examination for the cycle of August 1, 2012 through July 31, 2013. Eleven Delta College graduates successfully completed the exam during that time period.

Delta College Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of a new scholarship named in memory of Saginaw Township Police Officer Michael Cohee. The Michael Cohee Memorial Scholarship will annually award $1,000 to a student in the fall semester Police Academy and $1,000 to a student for the winter semester Police Academy. To apply, students must be enrolled in the Delta College Police Academy and have a 2.75 or higher grade point average.

To help provide more learners in the Great Lakes Bay Region with a high school credential, Delta College is partnering with GED® Testing Service to offer the GED® test on computer. Delta College is one of three centers in the State of Michigan currently approved to offer this test format.

Delta College LifeLong Learning is currently accepting registrations for their fast-track career training in Phlebotomy, Health Unit Coordinator, Medical Insurance Billing & Coding, and RN/LPN Nurse Refresher. Fast-track programs will begin in January and again in April.

Delta College awarded 367 students with scholarships for the 2012–2013 academic year. Most scholarships are $1,000 for students enrolled full-time. A total of about $390,000 was awarded.

The inaugural Business Process Services Fast Start Program is a 200 hour program planned to operate from July 9 - August 15, 2012. The class schedule may vary, but it is planned Monday through Thursday from 8am - 5pm. Individuals successfully completing the program will have the qualifications to interview for jobs upon program completion in areas such as Finance, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Customer Service and administrative support roles.

Students in a Delta College Communication course are learning about the power of philanthropy in changing a community and individual lives. The student-led philanthropy project has a $2,000 grant to study the social issue of youth-at-risk in Saginaw County. Students will receive requests for funding for micro-grants this fall to non-profit agencies that serve youth at risk in Saginaw County.

The Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference has announced its All-American student athletes. To qualify students must have completed a minimum of 36 credit hours with a 3.6 grade point average or higher, and played at least one season of varsity athletics.
