October 13, 2009
Flu shots (for the seasonal flu, not H1N1) will be available at Delta College on Monday, October 26 from 7:30 to 10:00 am and again from 2:00 to 3:30 pm for students, faculty and staff. Covenant staff will be located in the small lounge area of the West main hallway, near the steps just opposite the E wing main hallway entrance. The cost will be $23 (cash or personal check only). Adult dosage only will be available.

Get in the spirit of Halloween early. This music-filled show with laser effects is a special show all about ghosts, goblins, and other spooky things associated with Halloween.

The Delta College President’s Speaker Series is bringing Economist Charles Wheelan to campus on October 7. He will speak on Michigan’s Economic Crisis: Making our Great Lakes State “Great” Again.

This semester Delta College students are taking courses equivalent to 105,121 credit hours. This is a record number and up 6.3 percent from last year – the previous record with a total of 99,025. On average, each student is taking about a nine credit hour schedule.

130 National Institutions Highlight Need to Fund Comprehensive Education and Training Via Climate Legislation
Dr. Jean Goodnow, President of Delta College, met with representatives from the offices of Michigan Senators Levin and Stabenow to emphasize the need for education funding in an energy bill. She was part of a group of college presidents and leaders in education from across the nation who met with congressional offices this week to highlight the urgency of passing a plan that puts a cap on global warming pollution and invests in education for the clean energy economy.

The 2009 softball team at Delta College has been named to the Athletes of Distinction “All Academic Teams” list by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

In its June issue, Community College Week named Delta College to several of its top associate degree producers lists. Delta has consistently been one of the top institutions among 1,200 community colleges nationwide.

Delta College Entrance off of Delta Road will be closed beginning Monday, May 4. Traffic to use Mackinaw Road or Hotchkiss Road entrances.
