To help provide more learners in the Great Lakes Bay Region with a high school credential, Delta College is partnering with GED® Testing Service to offer the GED® test on computer. Delta College is one of three centers in the State of Michigan currently approved to offer this test format.

Delta College LifeLong Learning is currently accepting registrations for their fast-track career training in Phlebotomy, Health Unit Coordinator, Medical Insurance Billing & Coding, and RN/LPN Nurse Refresher. Fast-track programs will begin in January and again in April.

Delta College awarded 367 students with scholarships for the 2012–2013 academic year. Most scholarships are $1,000 for students enrolled full-time. A total of about $390,000 was awarded.

In its June issue, Community College Week named Delta College to several of its “top associate degree producers” lists. Delta has consistently been one of the top ranked institutions among the nation’s 1,200 community colleges.

The inaugural Business Process Services Fast Start Program is a 200 hour program planned to operate from July 9 - August 15, 2012. The class schedule may vary, but it is planned Monday through Thursday from 8am - 5pm. Individuals successfully completing the program will have the qualifications to interview for jobs upon program completion in areas such as Finance, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Customer Service and administrative support roles.

Students in a Delta College Communication course are learning about the power of philanthropy in changing a community and individual lives. The student-led philanthropy project has a $2,000 grant to study the social issue of youth-at-risk in Saginaw County. Students will receive requests for funding for micro-grants this fall to non-profit agencies that serve youth at risk in Saginaw County.

The Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference has announced its All-American student athletes. To qualify students must have completed a minimum of 36 credit hours with a 3.6 grade point average or higher, and played at least one season of varsity athletics.

The State of Michigan approved funding of $10 million dollars for Delta College’s long-awaited Allied Health Capital Building Renovation project.

Delta College is looking for outstanding alumni to recognize during its 50th anniversary in 2011.
Individuals to be considered for the College’s Distinguished Alumni Award must have graduated from Delta. The College selects the persons based on achievements in their field, contributions to and impact on the community, and local recognition.
