State-of-the-art Chemical Process and Lithium Battery Lab Updates Planned

In its June issue, Community College Week named Delta College to several of its “top associate degree producers” lists.

The Delta College Foundation’s 15th Annual Golf Classic was held on Tuesday, June 15 at Apple Mountain.

Yesterday evening the Board Vacancy Subcommittee met to interview seven candidates who applied to fill the Midland County vacancy left by Dr. Tom Lane’s resignation from the Board.

Delta College Joins Achieving the Dream: Community Colleges Count

• National initiative seeks to increase student success at community colleges.
• Network now includes more than 130 colleges in 24 states and the District of Columbia, reaching more than one million students.

Delta College was awarded a 2010 Kresge Foundation Fellowship Award. Second Nature, with funding from The Kresge Foundation, has presented these fellowship awards to 25 higher education institutions out of 60 applicant institutions.

Beginning Friday, May 21, Delta College will be closed on Fridays through July 30, and will extend hours Monday through Thursday to better serve students and visitors.

Due to the resignation of Dr. Tom Lane of Midland, the Delta College Board of Trustees seeks to appoint a citizen of the Delta College district to fill a vacancy on the Board of Trustees for the remainder of 2010.

The Delta College President’s Speaker Series continues to focus on the theme of our state economy with this panel discussion scheduled for February 24, 10 a.m. in the Delta College Lecture Theater.

Delta College’s colors have always been green, and believe it or not, another shade of green. But the green in Delta’s logo is now less a symbol and more a philosophy at the 640-acre community college that recently underwent a transformation to its outdoor campus.

Delta College was recently informed of a sizeable financial contribution to be made in support of its training programs.  Delta’s President, Dr. Jean Goodnow, learned that the College would be receiving a check for $757,619 from the Harvey Randall Wickes Foundation in Saginaw.

Flu shots (for the seasonal flu, not H1N1) will be available at Delta College on Monday, October 26 from 7:30 to 10:00 am and again from 2:00 to 3:30 pm for students, faculty and staff. Covenant staff will be located in the small lounge area of the West main hallway, near the steps just opposite the E wing main hallway entrance. The cost will be $23 (cash or personal check only). Adult dosage only will be available.

Get in the spirit of Halloween early. This music-filled show with laser effects is a special show all about ghosts, goblins, and other spooky things associated with Halloween.

Larry Ramseyer, Director of Facilities Management, and Linda Petee, Sustainability and Risk Management Coordinator, both presented Delta College sustainability initiatives at the recent Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s Greening of the Campus Conference held in Indianapolis, Indiana.
