In its June issue, Community College Week named Delta College to several of its top associate degree producers lists. Delta has consistently been one of the top institutions among 1,200 community colleges nationwide.
“We’re very pleased to receive this recognition,” said Dr. Jean Goodnow, Delta College President, “especially since President Obama recently outlined a plan to reform our nation’s community colleges, calling for an additional 5 million community college graduates by 2020. We think this shows Delta College can do our part in meeting this challenge.”
Delta College was a top associate degree producer in the following categories:
All Disciplines
91st ranking with 1,279 graduates
All Disciplines – Non Minority
53st ranking with 1,090 graduates
All Disciplines – American Indian
95th ranking with 15 graduates
Business, Management, Marketing & Related Support Services
25th ranking with 331 graduates
Communication, Journalism & Related Programs
42nd ranking with 16 graduates
Criminal Justice
38th ranking with 82 graduates
Precision Production
10th ranking with 23 graduates
Science Technologies/Technicians
17th ranking with 18 graduates
Hailing itself at the “independent voice covering community, technical and junior colleges,” the national publication ranked associate degree granting institutions in several categories based on analysis of U.S. Department of Education data.
“As we note each year, degree and certificate production is just one of the many important things that community colleges contribute to their communities and constituents,” wrote Victor Borden of Community College Week. “But it is one of the most tangible and countable outcomes that lends itself to analysis and ranking.”
