The 2009 softball team at Delta College has been named to the Athletes of Distinction “All Academic Teams” list by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

The Lady Pioneers posted an average 3.21 grade point average this past spring.  Just two other Michigan community colleges made the academic performance list: Glen Oaks Community College reported a 3.22 GPA and Kalamazoo Valley Community College had a 3.13 GPA.

“Delta College is very proud of this team,” said Greg Mallek, Athletic Director. “These young women have worked hard at being the best students and the best athletes that they can possibly be, and we commend each of them for attaining this recognition.”

Members of the 2009 softball team are: Lauren Abney of Carrollton, Hannah Dillon of Caro, Delainey Doughty of Midland, Kassi Galganski of Frankenmuth, Sara Herbolsheimer of Bay City, Rachel Juricak of Columbia City, Indiana, Charelotte Kern of Bay City, Samantha McDowell of Lansing, Alex Ramirez of Saginaw, Meagan Reder of Bay City, Courtney Rousseau of Bay City, Katie Rousseau of Bay City, and Lauryn Wilson of Midland.
