Delta Debates Political Forum Series presents
October 27, 2009

The Forum will be held on November 3 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Delta College Lecture Theater.

This event will include a diverse panel discussion exploring issues such as:  Is American law colorblind? Should it be? Is racial profiling a necessary evil? How might a history of discrimination in the law explain relations between minorities and the police today?

The distinguished panel will include Bill Street, Saginaw Civil Rights Attorney; Gerald Cliff, Saginaw Chief of Police; M.T. Thompson, Saginaw County District Judge; and Yvonne Brantley, Michigan State Police Trooper, Bay City Post.

"Now in its fourth year, the Delta Debates Political Forum Series seeks to cultivate an open discussion, with a diversity of perspectives, on important political issues," said Lisa Lawrason, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Chair the series' committee. "We're thrilled about the experiences and perspectives each of the panelists will bring to this fall's forum. Each of them will offer their rich backgrounds to shed light on this issue which remains critical to America's promise of equal justice and protection of the laws."

The discussion will be moderated by Lawrason. This event is sponsored by the Delta College Foundation and is free and open to the public.
