Allegro Series Presents:  "La Guitarra" Featuring Acoustic, Jazz, and Classical Guitar

The Allegro Series presents its first concert of the season on Sunday, November 8, 2:00 pm, at the Delta College Lecture Theater (G-160).  "La Guitarra," featuring acoustic, jazz, and classical guitar by Matthew Warnock, Matthew Schroeder, and Brad DeRoche, presents these talented musicians performing together for a fantastic concert you won’t want to miss!  Tickets $10 ($8 students and seniors), available at the door.

Matthew Warnock, in addition to jazz performance degrees and performance certificates in classical guitar and piano, has studied with some of the top names in jazz including Fred Hersch, Bily Hart, Gene Bertoncini, Jack Grassel, and many others.  As a performer Matt has shared the stage with Randy Brecker, Jim McNeely, Slide Hampton, Stefon Harris and other jazz luminaries.  He is a teacher, performer, and music journalist who has authored books and instructional articles. 

Matthew Schroeder is a seasoned performer, guitar educator, and WAMI winning guitarist who has a depth in his playing resulting from a life-long pursuit of music and the guitar.  He majored in fingerstyle guitar working with many of the finest guitarists in the world including Pierre Bensusan, Benjamin Verdery, Pat Donohue, Billy McLaughlin, Alex DeGrassi, and local legends John Stropes, Don Linke and Peter Roller.  Matt's solo shows feature a mix of original compositions as well as arrangements of traditional and pop tunes. 

Brad DeRoche is the chair of the Music Department at Delta College and the director of classical guitar studies at the Interlochen Arts Camp.  He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Classical Guitar Performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music.  He participated in master classes with prominent concert guitarists including David Russell, Raphaella Smits, Paul Galbraith, and Fabio Zanon among others.  His performances have been described as "Stirring and Evocative" (Michigan Classical Guitar Society) and "Stylistic and Poetic" (Nicholas Goluses).  An in-demand performer, teacher, and lecturer; he has proven himself to be popular in concert halls, guitar festivals, and classrooms.  His style and energy are reflected in his musical interpretations and his charismatic stage presence.
